Tell us your life story?
“I just moved from London to East Helsinki. I live close to the sea and nature, with my wife, one (out of three) child, and our aging cat.
Professionally, my career has unfolded in distinct decade-long chapters. My 20s were dedicated to academia at the University of Eastern Finland, where I completed my PhD in pharmaceutical chemistry, focusing on developing new polymer materials. In my 30s, I transitioned into the private sector—first in drug development and later founding my own healthcare service company. It was an intense, invaluable learning experience. My 40s took me into the public sector, where I served the Finnish government in trade leadership roles based in India and London. Now, as I enter this next chapter, I am thrilled to be joining AQ Biotech. I’ve missed this world deeply—I’m even excited to get back into the lab!”
What interested you in joining AQ Biotech?
“My motivation is simple: I want to work with exceptional technology alongside even better people. I have known CEO Timo for some time and have followed the company’s progress closely. During 2025, it became clear that I wanted to be part of the AQ story. The opportunity to help develop and commercialize a technology that offers a true, tangible benefit to mankind is exactly where I want to be.”
What are your ‘Big Hairy Audacious Goals’ for 2026 and beyond?
“I am a big believer of life harmony, which for me means successfully balancing my personal, family, and professional lives and goals. This isn’t about continuous and equal time division, but rather fostering a state where all aspects can coexist and grow. This principle I value in AQ Biotech and I want to champion in my new role as well. Professionally, the goal for AQ Biotech is crystal clear: securing our first commercial deal. To get there, we are focused on reaching our next milestones in biomarker discovery. As for my personal and family goals—those are best discussed over a coffee or a phone call; I’d be happy to share them then!”
