We are looking for an Application Scientist to join our team. In this position you will be responsible for conducting research, experiments and validations using the company’s phage-biosensor method to detect the early stage of diseases from non-invasive samples (saliva, urine).
RESEARCH TOPICS
Your research topics will mainly cover our phage-biosensor development based on bacteriophage constructs. The work will include developing biosensors towards different disease biomarkers related to cancers and to infectious diseases performing and sample preparation and analyzing bioassays. The work includes the development of in-vitro evolution processes of phages, and complementary tests using traditional methods with external collaborators. Your duties also consist of documentation, drafting scientific publications, and collaboration with our clinical partners.
OUR EXPECTATIONS
M.Sc in biochemistry, biotechnology, systems biology, or related discipline.
- Experience and knowledge in the field of microbiology
- Preparation and measurement of clinical samples (such as saliva, urine, blood).
- Good skills in transferring methods and protocols from lab to lab
- Good communication skills, proactive attitude and problem solving capabilities are essential to succeed in this position.
- Fluency in English, other languages are an advantage.

Senior Scientist and Quality Lead

AQ Biotech is at a pivotal growth-stage, and we are looking for a Senior Scientist and Quality Lead to join us in a permanent, dual-impact role. In this position, you will be a key driver in our laboratory research while taking a leading role in designing and building a tailored Quality Management System (QMS) ensuring reliability and excellency to our diagnostic innovations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Senior Scientist (50%):
- Key member of our research team and contributor of our phage-biosensor method.
- Developing and optimizing bioassays for infectious diseases and cancer biomarkers.
- Managing in-vitro evolution of phages and collaborating with international clinical and academic partners.
Interpreting measurement data and drafting scientific publications.
Development & Quality Leadership (QMS, 50%):
- Driving the development: You will play a foundational role in designing and implementing a QMS that is fit-for-purpose for a high-growth diagnostics startup.
- Process Architecture: Establishing and documenting core processes, from sample handling to data integrity, ensuring they meet industry best practices (e.g., ISO 9001 or GLP/GCLP standards).
- Quality Documentation: Drafting and managing the company’s quality manual, SOPs, and validation protocols to ensure a scalable and robust operational framework.
- Continuous Improvement: Leading internal audits and fostering a proactive “Quality First” mindset throughout the scientific team.
OUR EXPECTATIONS
- Education: Ph.D. or M.Sc. in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or a related discipline.
- Research Track Record: Extensive experience in bioassay development and the measurement of clinical samples.
- Quality Management Vision: A background in QMS (e.g., ISO 9001, GLP) and a passion for building quality systems from the ground up rather than just following existing ones.
- Independent & Proactive: Ability to independently design both laboratory experiments and quality workflows.
Communication: Fluency in English and excellent technical writing skills are essential for both scientific and quality documentation.

Head of Biomarker Discovery

We are filling a senior position to head our biomarker discovery process under direct guidance of our Chief Science Officer.
This new role is pivotal in our aim to discover novel biomarkers for a wide range of diseases. We have ongoing studies in Finland, China and in the US. Identification and characterization of new complementary biomarkers paves the way for the development of novel diagnostic tests, enabling accurate early stage screening of a variety of diseases.
RESEARCH TOPICS
This is a new role to study our phage-biosensors and their interactions with disease biomarkers. You will be specialized on non-invasive sample matrices, their fundamental characteristics but also their complementing role to serum and to existing diagnostic tests. A key element of your work is to conduct complementary measurements utilizing a Mass Spectrometer and other established methods and to participate in deep analyses with our clinical and research partners. Your duties will also involve documentation, writing scientific publications, and the further development of our biosensor method.
OUR EXPECTATIONS
- A M.Sc or PhD in life sciences and/or chemistry.
- Hands-on analysis experience in using LC-MS and other established biophysical methods.
- Experience and understanding of biomarkers in the medical field.
- Understanding of predictive, prognostic and pharmacodynamic biomarkers.
- A proactive attitude and problem solving capabilities are essential to succeed in this role.
- Sufficient communication skills and Fluency in English.
