We are thrilled to announce a major milestone in our international growth strategy. On May 14th, 2026, AQ Biotech Oy signed an agreement with Sichuan Yiaijinxuan Technology Co., Ltd. to incorporate a new Joint Venture: AQ Biotech Chengdu Ltd, based in Mainland China.
This new Joint Venture builds upon a successful research collaboration initiated with our JV partner September 2025 with the leading Chinese hospital, the West China Hospital of Sichuan University, focusing on the non-invasive detection of Parkinson’s disease. Joint Venture and research collaboration is a continuation of the project originally initiated by Valtteri Kaasinen, Professor of Neurology at Turku University Hospital, who will continue as a Principal Scientist together with the AQ Biotech and WHC science teams.
Our JV partner Sichuan Yiaijinxuan Technology Co has unique capabilities in developing antibodies, which makes our JV and collaboration even more exciting, The aim is to build comprehensive delivery chain from detection of the new biomarkers to characterization and finally antibodies to implement the new screening tests to screen neurodegenerative diseases.
To accelerate this groundbreaking work, we have jointly applied for funding through the MOST-Business Finland joint call, and we are proud to share that AQ Biotech has already received a positive funding decision from Business Finland. The core objective of this co-funded project is to develop an advanced diagnostic method for the early detection of Parkinson’s disease —ultimately aiming to replace the expensive and invasive DaTSCAN imaging. By combining Finland’s world-class biotechnology innovation capability with China’s unparalleled speed and execution power, we are uniquely positioned to revolutionize PD diagnostics on a global scale.
The establishment of laboratory facilities, advanced measurement devices, and the onboarding of a specialized local R&D team to Chengdu are already underway and slated for completion within the next six months. Additionally, phage biosensor summer school will be organized in Chengdu in July to train employees to work at both AQ Biotech Chengdu and AQ Biotech Nanjing facilities.
